Allow Me to Rant Because I Seldom Do

Some people deliberately enter your life
And sweet talk their way into it
And trusting as you always are
You take the bait and willingly
Allow them access to your heart

To be stabbed in the back
Is the most hurtful thing
Anyone can feel
And to stab
The most selfish thing
Anyone can do

I can no longer tolerate
The lies, the dishonesty, the deception
The callousness of their being
It appalls me why some people
Are born this way
And why they choose
To live that way
When you can choose to be
What you want to be
What you ought to be
What you will to be

It is godly to forgive and to grant another chance
Once is good, twice is generous enough
But more than that, I think,
Is asking too much of your soul
Dear God, why do we have to do it
As much as You would have us do?
Seventy times seven, You say

Then I realize that it's probably not the forgiving
That we should scrimp on
But the giving of chances that we should limit
Because once trust is lost
It is lost forever

Therefore I may forgive
But I will not allow myself
To be fooled ever again
There are other people in the world
Who deserve more of me
And I intend to give
My best to them

When there is no longer respect
When there is no longer trust
When there is no longer faith
It is better to just walk away
Because life has to go on
A lot of love is yet to be given
And some people just don't deserve my tears anymore

Jer 20:12 Oh, GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies, no one fools you. You see through everyone, everything. I want to see you pay them back for what they've done. I rest my case with you.

Eskimo Kisses

Sometimes I wish
I had the ability to freeze time
That they would always be
The children that they are
Or perhaps rewind a day or two --
Oh, can I?

The day they were born
The first smile
The first time they said, "Mommy"
The first step towards my outstretched arms?

But I realize
That as long as there is God
The world will keep on turning
And they will keep on growing up

So while I can
I take some mental photographs
I hold their hands
I kiss their lips
I memorize their smells
I cherish every hug

I pray that I don't lose a day
And fail to say "I love you"
Because someday
All I will ever hold
Are memories of their childhood
Nothing more than memories
Blowing in the wind

Brushing with Kuya This Time

I was out the whole afternoon with my Narnian Queens and I was so tired when I got home. But when I arrived at about 8:30 pm, I found Miguel and Mia responsibly brushing their teeth in the bathroom. I felt my exhaustion go away.

Pro 29:17 Discipline your children; you'll be glad you did-- they'll turn out delightful to live with.

Missing Friends

"A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping and with a breath of kindess blow the rest away."

~ Arabian Proverb

Brushing with Daddy

"Children will not remember you for the material things you provided but for the feeling that you cherished them." Richard L. Evans

Cup of Tea

Join me for a while
Tell me about your day
Let's share some laughter
Ponder on something serious
Nibble on something sweet

Sip a cup of hot tea
Jasmine, Earl Grey, Chamomile
Green, Orange Pekoe, Mint
A tea bag is good for two
Three dips in my cup, three dips in yours
Just a bag in hot water...no sugar...no lemon.

These are the moments
We sit, relax, exchange thoughts
Forget about the noises in the world
No kids...no TV...just us
Soothing. Calming. Sweet.

Ever since we got married, Doy and I have observed a ritual, which we do at least three times a week. After dinner, I make some tea for the two of us and we sit at the table, sharing a plate of pastry. We go through events of the day. Sometimes we talk about predicaments. Most of the time, we laugh. And then there are moments when it's just nice to relish memories from the past.

Life can be a picnic. It doesn't need to be grand. It could be plain and simple, really. Because anything could become beautiful as long as love is all around.

Psalms 23:1-3 You, LORD, are my shepherd. I will never be in need. (2) You let me rest in fields of green grass. You lead me to streams of peaceful water, (3) and you refresh my life. You are true to your name, and you lead me along the right paths.

The Playhouse

Finally found a photo.
This is where I met the love of my life.
It's an eerie feeling, looking at it.
And this was exactly my vantage point from the green swing.

He sat right there.
No, not inside.
Just right behind the boy standing on top of the stairs.
Little did I know it then. But God knew.
I was staring at my future.

Now I look at the past.
It's yellow, faded, and worn.
But it's a beautiful sight.
